Claim

Viral video of man accusing Pakistan Army soldiers of assaulting his daughter

Rating Justification

The iVerify Pakistan team investigated this content and determined that it is false.

To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan conducted a reverse image search to find the original video.

Posts from multiple users across various social media platforms on February 17, 2025, shared a video, claiming it showed a man recounting brutality by the Pakistan Army against his family during his custody. However, the full clip of his speech does not mention the Pakistan Army or hint at it.

HOW IT STARTED

On Feb 17, an X user, who appeared to be a PTI supporter based on their past posts, shared a video, featuring a man recounting his time in prison to a group of people.

In the caption, the user alleged the man spoke about his daughter being sexually assaulted by Pakistan Army soldiers in front of him during custody.

The post’s caption posted the following as the video’s alleged transcription: “A month later, my daughter was getting married. My daughter was taken to a camp by the Pakistan army. I am a father and you may not understand. Twenty soldiers wronged my daughter in front of me. I was shifted to jail from there. After seeing all this, I said, ‘Hang me up. I don’t want to go home now.’ If you in uniform think that you will enter heaven on the Day of Judgment, then you are mistaken. This father will grab you by the collar. Today, I ask the army who raped my daughter: why don’t you fight for occupied Kashmir, why are you only fighting with us?”

The post was viewed by over 274,000 people and re-shared nearly 5,000 times.

It was also shared on X here, on Facebook here, here, here, and here, as well as on TikTok here.

METHODOLOGY

A fact check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its virality and the concerning nature of the serious allegations about the Pakistan Army.

Inspecting the video itself showed that it did not include any mention of the Pakistan Army by the speaker as in the alleged transcription in the post’s caption.

A reverse image search led to a Facebook post dated July 1, 2024, featuring a longer version of the video from a different angle. The man in the video was identified as Ghazi Shehzad, a politician from Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

In the video, Shehzad appeared to be narrating the story of a fellow prisoner in Indian-occupied Kashmir’s (IoK) Srinagar Central jail, who claimed soldiers sexually assaulted his daughter. However, he did not attribute the incident to the Pakistan Army.

According to Independent Urdu, Shehzad was detained in Srinagar Central Jail for over four years.

The transcript of the video is produced below:

“I was in Srinagar Jail when Mr Gilani was arrested. Let me tell you an incident. You have to listen to me by keeping your faith in front of you. I was arrested in Central Jail, Srinagar. Mr Gilani was brought in. There were other people with him. I also came to see him. He was martyred. May Allah elevate his status. There was another person with him. When I asked him what he was doing, he said, your daughters come back from the camp. And he stood up after saying a few strong words … he said: ‘When the army arrested me last month, they took me to the camp. The major took my daughter along with the company. My daughter was getting married a month later. I was kept in the camp. They took my daughter and brought her to the camp. I am a father, a father. We are the victims. Maybe you cannot hear us. I am a father. My daughter was wronged by 20 soldiers. They shifted me from there and sent me to jail. I said to the jailer, give me the punishment of hanging. My daughter was getting married a month later. She used to call me Baba. Baba cannot show his face to her now. Give me the punishment of hanging or give me the punishment of life imprisonment. I do not want to go home.’”

FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE

The claim that a viral video shows a man alleging that Pakistan Army soldiers sexually assaulted his daughter while he was in custody is false.

The video does not mention or refer to the Pakistan Army at any point and the longer version of the video shows the person retelling the narrated incident of a fellow inmate at IoK’s Srinagar Central Jail — thus likely referring to allegations about Indian military personnel.
