Video showing poor state of Lahore’s Services Hospital under Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz
The iVerify Pakistan team investigated this content and determined that it is misleading.
To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan conducted a keyword search to find the original video.
Posts from multiple users on various social media platforms since March 1, 2025, shared a video showing a doctor claiming to be from Lahore’s Services Hospital and saying that the generator in the operating theatre had run out of fuel, thus disrupting patient treatment. However, the video was from July 2023 and unrelated to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s term.
CM Maryam faced criticism over a 60-page newspaper supplement published on February 26 to mark one year of her government, highlighting its achievements. Critics, particularly from PTI and PPP, accused the Punjab government of misusing public funds for political promotion.
The PTI also launched a social media campaign, alleging that PML-N was taking credit for PTI-initiated projects. Meanwhile, a petition was filed in the Lahore High Court against CM Maryam and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, accusing them of misusing Punjab’s public funds for personal and political advertisement.
On March 1, a video was shared on X by a user who, based on his past posts, appeared to be a PTI supporter. The video featured a doctor claiming to be from Services Hospital Lahore, stating that he was inside an operating theatre where the generator had run out of petrol, disrupting patient treatment.
The post’s caption said: “During an operation in the hospital, the generator ran out of petrol. May God protect the patient. Someone tell Maryam that there is no agriculture in Cholistan, patients in hospitals are dying due to lack of electricity.”
The post gained over 65,000 views.
The same video, accompanied by a similar caption, was also shared by other PTI supporters as can be seen here, here and here.
Additionally, the video was also circulated on Instagram and Facebook as well.
All of the videos had the logo and branding of digital news outlet Naya Daur.
A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its virality and the public’s keen interest in CM Maryam’s governance after the criticism over the Punjab government’s advertisement.
A search on Naya Daur‘s recent videos showed no such video uploaded by the outlet anywhere.
A keyword search conducted for “Services Hospital Lahore”, “generator” and “doctor” yielded a video posted by Naya Daur on TikTok on July 22, 2023. The video’s title read: “During the operation in Pakistan hospital, the generator ran out of gasoline.”
The same video was also found on the YouTube channel of media outlet MM News, posted on July 22, 2023.
In July 2023, incumbent Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was serving as the interim Punjab chief minister, following the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly by the PTI government in January 2023.
The claim that a video shows the poor state of Lahore’s Services Hospital under Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz’s term is misleading.
The video is old from July 2023 when Mohsin Naqvi was the caretaker Punjab chief minister and thus entirely unrelated to the current provincial administration.
