Viral video does not show Mahira Khan dancing in backless outfit but Haitian-American singer Naika

The iVerify Pakistan team reviewed this content and determined that it is false.

To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan team conducted a reverse image search to investigate the viral video.

Multiple posts on social media platform X since December 29, 2024, shared a video of a man and a woman dancing at a club, claiming that it was actress Mahira Khan. However, the video actually shows Haitian-American singer Naika.

HOW IT STARTED

The iVerify Pakistan team was alerted on Dec 30 about a post on X and requested authentication for its content.

On December 29, a user on social media platform X shared a video of a woman dancing at a club in a backless shimmering silver outfit alongside a man. It was shared alongside a picture of actress Mahira Khan.

The post was captioned: “The bold and iron lady of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mahira Khan, enjoying her cute style with moves and dance.”

The video racked up 427,500 views.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its virality, the potential for harm to the Pakistani actress due to any controversy from the video eliciting anger from the public and to satisfy the public request seeking authentication for the claim.

A reverse image search for the video yielded the original video on TikTok, shared on September 24, 2024.

Further investigation led to the same video from a different angle, dated September 27.

As per the details from the videos, they showed Saint Levant and his girlfriend Naika at a Boiler Room music event in Washington DC in September.

Boiler Room is a global music platform that hosts live DJ sets, performances and events across different locations around the world. Saint Levant is a Palestinian-French-Algerian artist while Naika is a Miami-based Haitian singer.
